The wind is blowing something fierce here today. I have to admit that I am NOT a fan of Santa Ana Winds… in fact, I hate them! It’s okay, they don’t really like me either. The winds always mess with my asthma, yuck. The winds did bring to mind a photo I took a few years ago on a strange weather day. All of a sudden, an ominous rusty-amber glow filled the daylight, and the air felt heavy around us. We looked out the window and found a gorgeous, yet eerie sky. It was the kind of weather that really made you feel. I had to take a photograph.

“The wind blew my words away from you. So while I told you I love you, the phrase was carried in the opposite direction and landed 333 miles away in the ears of a confused farmer. He was nice, though. He sent me a kind letter saying that while he was flattered, I wasn’t really his type. ”

It is really eerie, but beautiful. I have never known skies colour like this one. The picture is wonderful. I enjoy it a lot. Thank you for sharing.
I had never seen anything like it…and haven’t yet again. I’m glad you liked the photo. 🙂
It actually looks more beautiful than eerie to me. I’ve never thought to take pictures of the sky before. I think I might take that up on instagram. 🙂
It was gorgeous! It just had a kind of eerie feel to it. I was remarkable. We have such beautiful sunsets and sunrises too here, I take quite a few pictures of the sky. 🙂
It’s pretty funky up here too (In Ventura) – the Santa Ana winds are really messing with us today! That is a really beautiful photo though… ~Renee
Blech…winds! At least we don;t have any smoke from fires. I hope you are avoiding that too. 🙂
I love looking at the colors in the sky. Here in the midwest, we had many yellow skies during tornado season. Those always scared me to death!
That would scare me too! But I do love colors in the sky. 🙂
Thank you so very much for putting my button on your page!! I love you Lorelai 🙂
You’re welcome, Missy! Love you too! 🙂
We had weird weather here. Last night there was a tornado that touched down in Nebraska. It was in the town that I went to college in. It touched down for two miles. Good thing you don’t get those in your area.
You are telling me! I would be terrified. Give me an earthquake any old day!
What a beautiful October sky! I love the contrasting colors you captured.Thank you for sharing!
The colors really are pretty aren’t they. 🙂
The picture is beautiful!!! We have tornadoes around here, so every once in a while it turns orange outside, I don’t think my camera would be able to do it justice.
Tornadoes would scare the devil out of me! I’ll just take the beautifully colored skies, thanks. 🙂
Kim Hubbard’s quote made me chuckle. I love clouds. I look at them while I’m driving (maybe not a good thing) and love to see them change. Great post!
Rory and I do that too! I love seeing different shapes in the clouds. We saw a chef with his chef’s hat and wooden spoon one time and neither of us had a camera…boo! 🙂
The (only) one good thing about weird weather, they make for the best pictures. Our big sky has all kinds of colors and shapes, I love it.
We don’t usually have “bad” things happen with our weather, so it was just truly odd. But it was beautiful. 🙂
